Elegant Inn, Menara Hup Seng
On Saturday, KY and I had lunch at Elegant Inn, Menara Hup Seng, with Jasmine and Jess (who doesn’t blog, I think). Typical me being me, I overslept at instead of waking up at 9.30am as promised (I’m a girl okay, I take a lot of time to get ready, and you think long hair dries very fast?! Don’t say blow-dry it because extensions shouldn’t be exposed to heat!), I ended up waking up at 11.15am, hee hee. Nevermind, we still managed to make it there in time though, yay!
I love yee sang. Like really, really love. Like I would be happy to eat it on a daily basis. Other than of course, the red packets, yee sang is one of the reasons why I look forward to Chinese New Year so much.

Fresh veggies always triumphs over those red and green crunchy bits <3

Starters: Tofu scallop with lemon parsley sauce, friend calamari and soft shell crab
You see the tofu scallop thing in the spoons? OMG, that’s like heaven in a mouthful. The lemon is delightfully light and tangy and the tofu is so yummy and cold, and the scallop is just seared perfectly. Yes, I’m in LOVE with it in case you couldn’t tell. The fried calamari and soft shell crabs were OMGSOYUMMY(!!!) as well, I think the starters were my favourite part of the day :D

This was some pretty awesome soup, I don’t know what you call it but it was peppery and very ham choy-ish :D
Okay so after this my memory tends to get a bit fuzzy so I don’t remember what came next and so on. All I know is that the food was awesome, very very nicely done. It’s always nice to see someone in charge who has such passion for food, and who takes so much pride in everything from the preparation to the execution. I guess that’s the main factor in why the food at Elegant Inn was so yummylicious. I definitely, definitely, definitely recommend it very highly, so do go and try it out, especially during Chinese New Year!

Steamed Australian Perch with their own soya sauce mix

This was very interesting – it looked like a chicken wing but inside it was deboned chicken with eight treasures!

Very, very yummy veggie with preserved waxed goose liver!

This was amazingly yummy too, bitter gourd with salted fish

The best fried rice EVER OMG, totally orgasmic

Mini egg tarts. I don’t like flaky pastry-like things so these were just okay for me.

This is one of my favourite desserts: mango pudding with milk poured over

And finally, tong yuen, something close to heart since it’s what we have regularly for supper in Melbourne :)
Looking at all the food again is making me seriously hungry now. Dinner tonight is at Mrina’s place for her birthday before heading out to Laundry or Sanctuary for drinks after. Gah, too many birthdays in a week, I’m going broke getting presents! :(
